Goalkeeper Cariddi reflects on 1st start, making Syracuse roster

Amanda Cariddi spent her first two years at Syracuse on the club ice hockey team, and joined SU’s Division I team midway through last season. She’s held a backup role since then, but made her first career start on Saturday, posting 23 saves and conceding just one goal. Niang thrives as undersized guard at D-II Simon Fraser after transfer from community college

After a fruitless high school career and a small stature led to no college interest, Sango Niang attended Chaffey (California) Community College and joined the basketball team. After two years at Chaffey, Niang transferred to Simon Fraser University to play D-II basketball.
