In regaurds to the current feature in today’s Face The Music section, (Eminem slams Bush in latest Animated Video) by Alex Roberts, i’d like to say that i thought the majority of the story was well-written and descriptive however the ending made the author’s feelings towards eminem startlingly clear when he framed eminem as a gifted artist with a massive, captivated and impressionable fan base that he chooses to only rap to about bashing celebrities? It made me wonder if the author of this story has ever really listened to much eminem beyond his radio singles, or if he’s ever heard ‘White America’ for christ’s sake. I guess my impression of eminem is just different, eminem knows he’s fucking awesome and he knows he has impressionable adolescents wrapped around his finger but i feel he does rap with purpose and denouces those rappers who do not (i.e.: ‘Business’ off the Eminem show) He is one of the few people in the game today who realizes rap can be used for so much more and a few shitty, untalented Bentley-seeking assholes who can rhyme ‘head’ with ‘bed’ ruin the medium’s credability as a form of true art and self expression. Eminem has a message that should be heard by alot more people than just angry teenaged kids, it seems like this is at the root of his image crisis, and it seemed as though the artist of this coulmn illustrated the same ol’ popular misconception.
