Senior Eefke van den Nieuwenhof earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced in its weekly awards Tuesday afternoon.
Van den Nieuwenhof has three goals over the last two games, including her team-high 10th and 11th scores of the season in a 6-5 loss at then-No. 14 Harvard on Oct. 1. She is currently tied for first in the conference in goals with Duke’s Alaina McVeigh.
In the 3-2 double-overtime win at then-No. 12 Boston College on Sept. 29, van den Nieuwenhof scored the game-winner on a penalty stroke. Two days later, the native of Soest, Netherlands, fired off a penalty corner to open the scoring for Syracuse. In the fourth quarter, she added her second score off a penalty stroke, bringing the game to 5-5 before the eventual loss.
Van den Nieuwenhof’s 11 goals and .653 shot-on-goal percentage this season are both career bests. This is the first time she won the ACC Offensive Player of the Week.
Today’s ACC award was the first for any Syracuse player this season.
