Syracuse guard Dyaisha Fair has been named to the Dawn Staley Award Later Season Watch List, which is given to the top guard in collegiate basketball. She previously was named one of 10 finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award, which is given to the top point guard.
Fair has scored in double figures in all of the Orange’s 26 games, including a season-high 36 points in a 90-72 win over Virginia. She averages 20.2 points per game (18th nationally) and has scored at least 20 points in 14 games this season. She recently scored her 2,500th career point, one of just two active players to reach the milestone.
In that win over the Cavaliers, she drained eight 3-pointers, which tied a program record. And in SU’s upset win over No. 14 North Carolina, she scored 23 points to lead all Orange players. In her first season with Syracuse, she is second in the conference in points per game and steals per game. Currently, she’s projected to be drafted 11th overall in the upcoming 2023 WNBA draft to the Minnesota Lynx, per lines.com.
The Orange currently sit on ESPN’s Bracketology as the First Four Out and travel to No. 24 Florida State on Thursday. They will close out the regular season hosting Miami and visiting Pittsburgh before competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.
