Following season-opening wins over then-No. 13 Stanford and Binghamton, Syracuse stayed as the 3rd-best team in the country in the Inside Lacrosse and Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association poll. The Orange still remain behind conference opponents Boston College and North Carolina.

SU opened up Kayla Treanor’s head coaching debut with a 12-9 win over Stanford. The Orange were trailing or tied at multiple points in the first half against the Cardinal, but a second-quarter hat trick by Meaghan Tyrrell gave Syracuse a 6-5 lead.

While the Cardinal’s Annabel Frist scored on a woman-up goal to tie the game, Emma Tyrrell took the lead back for the Orange. SU wouldn’t trail again in the game, and the Tyrrell sisters finished with eight of the 12 goals to give the team its first ranked win of the year.

Two days later, the Orange’s attack dominated the unranked Bearcats, finishing with 23 goals — two short of the program’s single-game record. Meaghan once again led Syracuse in goals, scoring five goals against the defensively-weak Binghamton.

Megan Carney, who was returning from a 2021 ACL tear, scored one goal against Stanford and was second on the team in scoring against the Bearcats. Carney finished with four goals and assisted on one of Meaghan’s goals to total five points. The performances from the top two scorers helped SU defeat Binghamton 23-6, the largest margin of victory since 2020 when the Orange beat the Bearcats 20-2.
