After a historic season-opening loss to No. 11 Virginia, where the Orange scored their fewest points since 1945, Syracuse needed a victory against Colgate to avoid dropping to 0-2 for the first time in Jim Boeheim’s 44-year head coaching career. The Orange (1-1, 0-1 Atlantic Coast) more than doubled their offensive output from game one, beating Colgate (1-2) 70-54 on Wednesday night in the Carrier Dome.
