Syracuse volleyball announces 2016 schedule

The Syracuse volleyball team released its schedule Thursday and will face seven teams that competed in the 2015 NCAA tournament including seven-time national champion Penn State. The Orange will also face 2015 NCAA tournament participants North Carolina, Florida State, Iowa State, Miami, Louisville, and Northern Iowa. Five of the seven teams made it past the second of the tournament in 2015.

SU is coming off one of its most successful seasons. The Orange posted a 23-8 overall record with a 14-6 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference and won eight of its first 10 games to start the year.

Syracuse opens the 2016 season with games at home against former Big East opponent Connecticut and Colgate on Aug. 26 and Aug. 28, respectively. The team then travels to Nebraska to participate in a two-day tournament against Oregon State and Iowa State.

The Orange opens conference play on Friday, Sept. 23 at home against Boston College. Syracuse will play 10 of its 20 conference games at home in the Women’s Building against North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Louisville, Wake Forest, Duke, Miami, Florida State, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech.

Syracuse will face each ACC team at least once throughout the season.

Syracuse plays its final home game on Nov. 20 against Virginia Tech, before concluding the season with road games against Louisville and Notre Dame on Nov. 23 and 25.
