Field Hockey

Opponent: No. 4 Virginia and No. 17 Boston University
Where: J.S. Coyne Stadium
When: Friday, 4 p.m. and Sunday, 2 p.m.

Emma Lamison, who scored nine goals and tallied eight assists in 39 career games at Northeastern, transferred to Syracuse this season and has contributed right away. She’s added five goals and two assists in just her first seven games. The No. 2 Syracuse offense will need that firepower when it takes on two of the nation’s top talents this weekend in undefeated Virginia and No. 17 Boston University.

Opponent: at No. 2 North Carolina and at No. 10 Virginia Tech
Where: Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Blacksburg, Virginia
When: Thursday, 7 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m.

Maddie Pack is a quiet, unassuming defender. “Pack is there, but if you don’t look closely, you might not even know.” Yet she uses the calm to her advantage. Shes played in all 10 games her freshman season and started nine of them. She’s been a staple of a Syracuse back line that has allowed just 1.3 goals per game and allowed two or more goals in just two of 10 games.

She came into this season ranked second in Orange history with a career average of 3.62 kills per set. “She wasn’t the player Syracuse originally wanted, she’s been one of the best it’s ever had.”
