SU’s women’s team remains at No. 28, men’s drop to No. 8

In the latest release of the NCAA coaches’` poll, SU’s men dropped from number four to number eight in the rankings, while the women stayed put at No. 28.

Syracuse is coming off of a strong showing at ACC Championship, where it finished second. The Orange racked up 260 points in the poll.

Northern Arizona maintained its hold on the No. 1 spot with 325 points. Oklahoma State narrowly missed out on overtaking Northern Arizona with 324 points. BYU (307 points) and California Baptist (278 points) came in third and fourth, respectively. Fresh off of its dominating ACC Championship performance, where it finished first, North Carolina climbed into the top five with 276 points. The tally earned a tie with Wisconsin, who was the fastest riser, climbing 19 spots. Despite its slip, Syracuse held onto its lead over Harvard for the No. 1 spot in the Northeast Region.

SU’s women’s team did not see any change in its ranking, staying at No. 28 with 41 points. Northern Arizona and NC State continued to lead the way with 330 and 319 points, respectively. BYU moved up one spot into the top three with 304 points, while Georgetown fell to fourth with 285 points. Oklahoma State rounded out the top five with 279 points. Washington saw the most movement, rising 11 spots to eighth overall. The Orange held onto its number two spot in the regional rankings, trailing only Harvard for the top spot.

Syracuse will get a week to regroup before heading to the Bronx for the Northeast Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 10.
