The Daily Orange retracts guest column

Dear readers, 

The Daily Orange prioritizes accuracy and fairness in all of our coverage. Our readers trust us to bring them factual information on the Syracuse University and broader Syracuse communities. 

A recent guest column, “Professors, your subtle racism doesn’t go unnoticed,” did not meet our standards for factual accuracy and fairness. We failed to verify allegations made in the guest column prior to publication and have retracted it for this reason.

We apologize to our readers for failing to hold this column to the same standards as our other editorial content. We will strengthen our vetting process for guest columns to ensure this doesn’t occur in the future.
