Justyn Knight broke his own Syracuse-record in the mile on Saturday in Boston.

Whether it was in the Big Apple or Beantown, Syracuse zoomed past opponents — both collegiate and professional — this weekend at the Armory Dr. Sander Invitational and the BU John Thomas Terrier Invitational.

Justyn Knight broke his own school record in the mile with a 3:55:82 time, finishing first among collegiate runners in the event.

He crossed the finish line just .30 seconds behind Olympian Shadrack Kipchirchir. Knight’s previous record was 3:56:87, over a second slower.

After the race, Knight spoke with letsrun.com and said he wasn’t even running the race for time, instead “using it as a workout.”

“For me to keep up with guys like Shadrack (Kipchirchir),” Knight said to letsrun.com, “That’s a huge confidence-booster.”

Noah Affolder (4:02:46), Aidan Tooker (4:02:85) and Philo Germano (4:03:43) also ran the mile, finishing ninth, 10th and 12th place, respectively.

In the Men’s 5,000-meter run, junior Kevin James took first with a time of 14:17.22 that placed him almost five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Dominic Hockenbury gave the Orange another top-10 finisher as he crossed the line in 14:34.83, good for 10th.

The Syracuse men also showed well in the 3,000 meter, led by junior Iliass Aouani, whose time of 7:59.88 gave him ninth place. Colin Bennie came in right behind, as he finished in tenth place with a 7:59:91 time.

Those three events come after a massive day of competition on Friday, where Imani Clark, Angelo Goss, Kadejhia Sellers, Shannon Malone and Pascal Bastien all shined.
