Syracuse (2-0) beat Iona (0-2) Tuesday night in the Carrier Dome, 71-62. Tyus Battle led the way for the Orange, leading all players with a game-high 28 points on 11-for-19 from the field. Center Paschal Chukwu grabbed 10 rebounds and point guard Frank Howard played all 40 minutes and scored 15 points. Rickey McGill paced Iona with 21 points of his own.
