Syracuse’s season came to an end on Saturday when it lost, 85-80, to No. 5 seed Mississippi (22-13, 10-8 Southeastern) in the Round of 16 of the National Invitation Tournament. The No. 1 seed Orange (19-15, 10-8 Atlantic Coast) lost six of its last nine games on the year. SU had only played in the NIT just six times under 41-year head coach Jim Boeheim before this season.
