Rapper Young Thug to perform benefit concert at Syracuse University
Rapper Young Thug will perform at Syracuse University March 25. Sponsored by the Theta XI Chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, the concert is open to all and tickets will be on sale at the Schine Box Office. The concert will take place in Goldstein Auditorium.
All proceeds from the concert will go to benefit the people of Flint, Michigan, and help combat the ongoing water crisis.
Musician Metro Boomin will be performing as well, according to the SU Phi Beta Sigma Instagram page.
Young Thug, who was born Jeffrey Lamar Williams in Atlanta, Georgia, first gained popular recognition in 2014 after being featured on several singles that charted on the Billboard Hot 100. He has worked with other rappers such as Waka Flocka Flame, Young Scooter and Travi$ Scott, and in his career has released 14 mixtapes, 17 singles and one EP.
Some of Young Thug’s most popular hits include “Best Friend,” “Check,” “Old English” and “Hookah.” The song “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times),” which he is featured on with musician Jamie xx, has more than 41 million listens on Spotify.
Although Young Thug has had run-ins with the law in the past, including being charged with felony drug charges in July of 2015, he was most recently in the news for riding a horse through part of downtown Atlanta.
