5 Coleman Hell songs to know
Coleman Hell will perform in Schine Underground on Wednesday as part of University Union’s Bandersnatch Concert series.
The Canadian alt-rock artist has a similar sound to past Bandersnatch artist X Ambassadors, but throws in more electronic vibes than most artists in the genre. Each of his most popular songs is marked by heavy dance beats.
Here are Hell’s five most-streamed songs on Spotify to check out before Wednesday’s performance, along with a playlist of all his tracks:
“2 Heads”
No questions asked, “2 Heads” was Hell’s breakout song. The electronic/banjo summer jam made its way onto both alternative and top 40 radio stations, eventually peaking at no. 5 on Billboard’s alternative music charts.
“Hurry Up”
“Hurry Up” is Hell’s second collaboration with artists La+ch and Jayme. La+ch, along with Hell, Michah and Shan Vincent de Paul, are part of Sideways, a Toronto-based music collective.
“Thumbalina”
This song, from Hell’s second EP, starts out strong with an immediately-contagious beat. As one of his most-played songs on Spotify, “Thumbalina” will probably make its way onto Hell’s lineups at the Firefly and Osheaga music festivals this summer.
“Take Me Up”
“Take Me Up” is yet another song from Hell’s self-titled EP, which was released last year. The faced-paced jam was released as a single in 2015.
“Sitcom”
Hell diverges a bit from his EP’s upbeat tempos with “Sitcom.” However, it still captures his signature electronic influences and incorporates a strong backbeat.
