First Year Players announced Thursday night it will perform “Heathers: The Musical” for its annual show this spring on the organization’s Twitter account. The popular drama organization only casts freshman and transfer non-drama majors.

“Heathers: The Musical,” is a dark comedy musical about a girl trying to overthrow the queen bee of the school. Originally a book titled, “Heathers,” the story has been translated into a Off-Broadway musical and a movie. The 1988 movie-adaptation, “Heathers,” is considered a cult classic. In 2008 Empire‍  ranked it N0. 412 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time.”

Past FYP performances include: “The Addams Family,” “Rent” and “The Wedding Singer.”
