Former Syracuse outside hitter Valeriya Shaipova and former defensive specialist Dana Crispi will not be playing volleyball for Syracuse this season, SU Athletics confirmed to The Daily Orange. Shaipova is medically disqualified, and Crispi is transferring.

The reason for rising redshirt junior Shaipova’s disqualification is currently unknown. Her redshirt freshman season ended prematurely due to a torn ACL, and after starting at times last year, she re-injured her knee in October and missed the rest of the season.

Shaipova recorded 197 kills and and 184 digs in 123 sets with the Orange.

Rising sophomore Crispi played in 57 sets during her freshman campaign and recorded 52 digs.
