Syracuse (5-9-4, 2-6-1 Atlantic Coast) tied 0-0 after two overtime periods to Wake Forest (5-8-3, 3-4-2) on Sunday at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Freshman goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan recorded eight saves in the draw, logging four in each regulation period.
Wake Forest was the more dominant team in the first half, shooting 10 times and totaling four corner kicks. Syracuse managed to stop the Demon Deacons’ attack and keep the game tied headed into halftime.
SU only got off one shot in the first half, but things began to open up more in the second half and the team registered four shots, three of which were on goal.
The Orange controlled both of the extra-time sessions, shooting twice and denying Wake Forest a shot attempt of its own.
SU’s Maya Pitts had a shot on goal in the second overtime period that would have sent SU home with a win, but it was saved by Wake Forest’s Lindsay Preston.
Syracuse’s last win was on Oct. 4 against Boston College. That 3-0 win also marks the last time the team scored.
The team wraps up its season next Sunday at 1 p.m. against North Carolina (11-2-2, 8-0-1) at SU Soccer Stadium.
