Syracuse competes in John Reif Memorial for final meet before ACC championship
Syracuse traveled to Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y., on Friday to compete in the John Reif Memorial, the Orange’s final race of the regular season.
Both teams competed individually in the men’s five-mile run and the women’s 5,000-meter race.
The men’s team had four runners place in the top seven. Redshirt freshman Kevyn Hoyos led the pack, finishing first overall with a time of 24:49.40. Sophomore Andrew Bennison finished four seconds behind him in second place. Juris Silenieks placed in fourth while fellow sophomore Joe Kush finished in seventh place.
The women’s team took five runners to compete at Cornell with two placing in the top five. Sophomore Angelica Peck finished in second place overall with a time of 17:44.50. Sophomore Beth Wright was the next Orange runner to place, finishing in fifth overall with a time of 18:05.20. Skodis, Kinkead and Weisenburger all finished in the top 30.
On Friday, SU will begin the postseason in Winston Salem, N.C., competing at the Atlantic Coast Conference championship.
